My Uncle's side of the family has been a retailer of high-end brand watches for many years now. These are great tips for people not in the know in regards to watches. This is what I have learned and thought it might helpful. The thing is, if you wear your watch for even a few hours, if it's steel, it will still have scratches, so then it's no longer new, or as new. I would say that you might only get 30-50 percent of the value of what you paid. You might have a very rare watch or coveted watch and it's another case altogether. Part of the reason is the presence of watch wholesalers and Amazon. For some reason, watches do not retain their value, unless they're very high-end: like a Rolex or Cartier. If you get a used watch of good quality, you're still gambling but chances are your piece will run for years.Ģ. But, in general warranties are usually not tranferable. For a used watch that's of a certain age, it's a little different, because sooner or later, the warranty does run out and you do end up paying. ![]() At best, the manufacturer will fix the watch for a cost, at worst, they might not touch it.
